Fuld Will Testify Sept. 1 Before U.S. Commission Probing Financial Crisis

Richard Fuld, the former chief executive officer of Lehman Brothers Holdings Inc., will testify in Washington this week at a hearing on the “expectations and impact of extraordinary government intervention” during the financial crisis that led the the firm’s bankruptcy in September 2008.

The Financial Crisis Inquiry Commission, formed by Congress to probe the causes of the worst economic collapse since the Great Depression, will hear from Fuld and former Wachovia Corp. CEO Robert Steel at a Sept. 1 hearing, the panel said today in a statement. Federal Reserve Chairman Ben S. Bernankeand Federal Deposit Insurance Corp. Chairman Sheila Bair are scheduled to testify a day later, the FCIC said.
