And Mr. Geithner's Contribution to the Economic Scar Tissue?

Geithner: U.S. scarred by "savage" recession

4:28pm EDT

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner said on Wednesday the United States is recovering slowly from a "savage" recession that has caused deep job cuts and a loss of confidence.

Geithner, speaking to CNBC television, also said he believed that there was support in Congress for President Barack Obama's latest proposed package of tax breaks for businesses and spending on infrastructure to stimulate the economy.

Economic scarring is the right phrase. My brother was laid off, didn't find work for nearly 5 months. When he did get a new job it was for nearly 20% less than he made before. So, he missed 5 months of regular pay and now 7 years of pay raises have been wiped out. So yes, he is "economically scarred"!
